When you insert custom animations, you often want to repeat a similar animation
you've used for another element, or on another slide. It therefore makes sense
that the chose animation effect's settings (if not the choice of animation
effect) default to the same ones used last time. (Specific examples are Font
color and effect duration settings - but it's probably most of the other
settings.)
(I'm guessing this is inherited from OpenOffice, but am not sure.)
