Do you know the option to hide whitespace? Either double click at the space
between pages or use View > Show Whitespace (should be off). It's the supposed
way to omit the page breaks.
I disagree with the web view mode since its purpose is different and depends on
the content. While it might serve your workflow resetting the view mode could
be a regression for other.
