We also tried a few more tests on Linux, and it seems the behavior depends on the VCL plugin. The issue occurs at least with kf5, kf6, and gtk3, but doesn't occur with gen (x11). Until we have tests on Mac, it's probably not worth labeling the issue as Linux-specific. Judging by the gtk3 logs (specifically, "gtk_tree_store_iter_children: assertion 'VALID_ITER (parent, tree_store)' failed"), it's possible that some VCL plugins are causing issues with tree processing.
