It appears that when those methods of "protection" are activated in a Calc file, they are more for preventing other users from being able to modify a file. All the "protection" based settings that I have tested appear to prevent the file from being edited or prevent the file from being saved, which is not the desired behavior suggesting. I am suggesting this more as a "mode" that can be activated. Where cells are protected in a sense because they cannot be typed into, but they can be edited by the user by entering "Edit" mode either by hitting -ENTER key -"Rename" action keyboard shortcut -Double clicking cell Also nothing else would really be protected. For example rows/column heights and widths could still be adjusted. Would only prevent cells from being edited when user types letters/numbers with keyboard, which currently automatically enters "Edit" mode of current cell. Hopefully this makes sense.
