Additional workaround (and maybe a clue for the root cause):

1) Insert a new column between D and E
2) fill each cell of the new column with a space " "
3) Make the new column par of the group (now column E to G)
4) problem goes away
5) Bonus: you can hide the new column E so that it is not shown when all the
columns are ungrouped and the printout will look OK (no bleeding)
