As the issue strikes more frequently ( I assume an exotic calculation error in complex documents for which the conditions are matched more often the larger the structure grows ( might be a bias, I'm just writing about math problems in computers ) ), I tried the following: Using another SAL, xfce (don't know what my system uses as default ), not better. I had moved footnotes, also across pages, but couldn't find any misformatted or with bad margins. Disabling "Allow table to split across pages and columns", and "Allow row to split across pages and columns", and "Keep with next paragraph" for all tables in the document could reproducibly heal the issue in plenty cases ( can't say if for all, can't say if all three points are necessary ).
