I know it's complex to fix it, but in the meantime, we could get a long way towards helping the user by simply (a) if the PDF has > 1 page, pop up a dialog. (b) explain to the user what the workaround is, e.g. "You are trying to insert a multiple-page PDF. Only the first page is converted to an image.
