Well, no matter the reason, this is unexpected behaviour and also loses data.
The "created" info in the document's properties refers to the initial creation
of the document (at least that is what I assume). This is not necessarily
related to the file, which makes sense, since those are two different things. I
often make a copy of a file and then edit the new copy. On the next save, the
date at which I copied the file is lost because the creation date of the copy
is changed.

I've changed the status back since the link you provided does not give further
details and so it's unclear what justifies unexpected behaviour and data loss.
