What's odd (besides no document content being shown) is that trying to open the spreadsheet results in an empty *text* document being displayed for you, i.e. it seems to be trying to use Writer instead of Calc to open that document. I cannot reproduce in a virtual Android device (Pixel 2) running Android 9 (i.e the same version you're using). Just to double-check: Does the same happen with the simple sample document attachment 202029? [UPDATE: You've already answered that in the meantime in comment 9] And is there any difference if you try to open a file from the file manager ("Files" app) instead of starting LibreOffice Viewer and selecting the file from there? I wonder whether the file manager (or the app providing the file selection widget when using the is "Select file to open" feature from within the LibreOffice app) may be playing a role, e.g. reporting the wrong MIME type. Do you have any custom (or vendor-specific) file manager installed? Or could you try whether it works when you try to open the file from another file manager, e.g. "Material Files"?
