It's 2025 now, arriving at LO 25.2.
Still not solved. And no such extension.
I agree with this feature request.

With a text document that has set a beautiful page area fillment (e.g. old
paper like), the background under the images pull the visual/printing quality
down.

Thus you can think "Colour Replacer" as a value-add to "Page Area".

Removing background in GIMP isn't an intuitive task so far. So I'm currently
using Pinda instead. But repeating the job between programs for those hundreds
of inserted illustrations is a drain, comparing to the the one-click solution.

Afaik .uno:bmpmask already runs fluently in Draw/Impress for years, so what's
the difficulty in implementing it into Writer?

Imo, this feature is totally NOT "rarely used" as Heiko noted. I think it's
much "frequently used" than "Insert Bookmark". I guess many daily users would
agree with this. I didn't mean anything to "Bookmark", just talking about
"popularity".

And a new welcomed item in the menu won't mess the program. We've many ways to
keep the UI neat.
Hope this would be implemented asap, thanks guys!
