Thank you very much for your response and suggestion. This can help, but the
feature I described (and that is simple and straightforward for users as a
standalone feature) would be an amazing added-value for anyone needing to write
a report, an essay or a book, and it could be a differentiator with the other
major similar softwares.

IBM Lotus Symphony Doc had something close as it was displaying tabs on a row
in the top, each tab representing a file (text, calc or ppt) ==> see on this
link the mentioned upper row:

==> Taking the same but the tab representing instead a Chapter within a Writer
file would be great.

Note: IBM Lotus Symphony was merged with Open Office when IBM stopped its
development in 2012, if I am right.
