There is one point that I always fail to understand when a question like
yours (very regularly) comes up:
Why don't you save the hls stream as mpeg-ts and do whatever you
want to do with it later on?
If there is a reception problem, the resulting file will not be invalid and
generally, it seems much easier to simply write to disk what you receive.
