So this is finally coming out of the draft stage.. The central patch requires a ton of preliminaries, but works in all the cases I tested. Only avisynth (not avxsynth) and mmal remain untested. It solves all the underlinking issues related to pkg-config files and drops a ton of spurious libraries that many components would get linked against unnecessarily.
