I see that my own build has now got past the self-inflicted fubar,
but it looks like it will fail at the end.
Although most of the libs associated with gcc (libquadmatch, etc)
seem to have fixed versions, libstdc++.so is now 6.0.26 but the book
still references the previous version:
save_usrlib="libquadmath.so.0.0.0 libstdc++.so.6.0.25
libitm.so.1.0.0 libatomic.so.1.2.0"
Colour me surprised. Not.
