It appears to be harmless, not sure why file's configure is checking for
itself. In the interest of simplicity, I'd recommend adding file with perl
on the createfiles page.

It's an artifact of autotools. There is no need to change anything. There are lots of warnings and errors thrown by configure in various situations that should be ignored. I don't want to set a precedent for these.
