I can understand that to keep things simple, the book doesn't build
the efi target of grub.  However, given that pretty much any recent
machine will come with UEFI initially enabled AFAIK, should there at
least be a mention that you'll have to change the BIOS settings to
boot in "legacy mode" instead of UEFI mode?

By the way, http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/downloads/files/lfs-uefi.txt
worked well for me, though I found that dosfstools isn't actually
necessary, at least with the latest released versions of efivars and
efibootmgr.
