Ouch!  I have a script to compare all my versions in BLFS against
the book, looks like I need something similar for LFS.

Something segfaulted before it got there.  At that time, I suspected
mkdir (i.e. coreutils) but now (see my later post) it looks like
make itself segfaults.

Yes, this is far more bizarre than I ever expected.  Thanks for the
comments, I need to write a script to check my LFS package versions
before I try any other approaches.
