Gerard, you will never know how many lives you have touched how...
I went all the way to the bottom of the pit after September 11/2001, when I
got laid off from my M$ C++ developer role.

Back then, I had had some brief incursions with UNIX, and I was running my
little WEB server off of a server farm that also did the sysadmin.

It was that server, and the growing despise of "Corporate America" that led
me to begin digging into Linux.
I had been curious about Linux for a long time anyway, but back in 2003 (if
I recall well) it was a clumsy Desktop proposition (on a good day) and a
daunting learning enterprise for a "Window$ guy" without sysadmin
experience...

But I launched myself in a quest to build the "Perfect Server", and sooner
than I expected, I realized that I needed my "Own Linux Machine".

And out of desperation I "Dogpiled" "Linux from Scratch"
And nothing has been the same ever since...

The learning experience has been painful but immensely rewarding. The
people I have found along the way exudes a generosity borderline with
psychopathy. The projects I have gotten involved into were beyond my
wildest dreams before "I saw the Light"

And along the way I have been able myself to give back to the community some
of the ungodly benefits I am ripping off of this wonderful brotherhood...

The ideas and generosity of this group. and the Linux fellowship in general,
has empowered me to spread those wonderful tools to people that otherwise
would not have the means to own computers and, consequently, to enjoy the
magic of Internet connections with distant friends and family...

It is the Linus', the Gerard's, the you's and the me's who make this
possible, and fuels a self feeding cycle of generosity and good will.

For that, I thank Linus, Gerard, the community, and myself, because most
anyone here probably don't dimension the impact on society and the extent of
changes that associations like this are bringing to humankind.
Never mind the outlook of the possibilities.
Thank you Gerard, thank you Guys, you've done good... :)

PS: My only gripe is that I used to bring people to the LFS page and show
them how the different penguin icons matched the different stages of the
book. It ripped lots of smiles.
Pleasure gone... :(
