The full symbol reference to a security in various systems includes the exchange where the symbol is traded. For example VHY.AX, ASX:VHY, etc. Is there any common "standard" for writing the security symbols in ledger files? I'm referring to cases where securities are traded at different exchanges, potentially different countries. I've already had a case where an ETF has discontinued trading on one exchange and moved to another, or a fund has the same symbols in the US and EU. I'd like to see what you guys are doing in such cases.
