Thank you both. That's exactly what I've done and everything seems to
be running fine.

As a new user of Ledger, the install experience left a lot be be
desired. First the DMG download didn't work and then the compile-it-
yourself route turns out to need MacPorts. I've opened
https://github.com/jwiegley/ledger/issues/32 and 
https://github.com/jwiegley/ledger/issues/33
with suggestions based on my experiences. I hope they're useful.
