In Binche cloth stitch areas, you need a support pin on any part where the
threads on the working diagram create a triangle. I use very fine insect
pins, and leave them in until I am well out of the area. This is what I
learned from Ulrike. It makes a huge difference, as when you tension,
especially later, you will pull the triangle down without knowing it. Some
people do not mind that pull in the cloth stitch areas, but I am fussy about
my tension, and can ruin a piece in a heartbeat without my support pins. I
just got some new ones which are a size 000, smaller than ones I have used
before, and will be using them in a Flanders class this weekend.
