All the bobbins have to be the same? What? That right there flies in the face of the English laces where you have a different type of bobbin for a gimp thread.
I'd like to see that teacher tell that to my professional lacemaking grandmothers many great, along with the many other lacemakers of yore, like Mrs Treadwin and see how it works for her. There's not a picture in a book of lacemakers from the late1800's with identical bobbins on their pillows - and they worked with hundreds of them. Sheesh.
