Many years ago, a friend was rushing to finish a piece of lace about 8 x 8 inches for applique to her daughters wedding dress. Her two calico cats were very good at depositing their hair on the pillow. After attempting to pull each hair, she finally gave up and decided that it would come out in the wash. DID NOT. The lace shrunk and more firmly embedded all the cat hair. The end solution was to take a straight razor to the lace and shave off as much as possible, both front and back. There are still remnants of cat hair on that lace.
