I was amused yesterday when I went into the World Museum in Liverpool with a friend who wanted to visit the Egyptian gallery there. There were a few display boards (photos on Flickr) showing coarse to fine linens and some boards explaining in general about linen manufacture and care. They agreed with our discussion - finer linen comes from younger plants.
There was also a stunning woven girdle, which I didnât feel appropriate to try to photograph as it was one of the display cases where you had to press a button to light it. The intricacy of the weaving was amazing. Sue [email protected] - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
