Amy Your discussion about Instagram was very interesting, and I was almost ready to join up and start using them. Until you said they are owned by facebook. Perhaps I will join and see how it works, cautiously. However with search engines and hashtags -- I deliberately set up the opening page for both needlelacetalk and laceioli so that all the phrases I could think of that people would likely use to find lace would be on that opening page. Most of our visitors come to us from google and pinterest, and very few from facebook. Lorelei
There has been a lot of great discussion following the "Lace, Not Lace" exhibit that Devon Thein is working on regarding how to connect with younger generations, plus the discussion of groups on Facebook and other platforms like Ning. Instagram is currently the most popular site for connecting "visually" to new topics and Instagram is completely centered around photos (Disclaimer: they are owned by Facebook). Hopefully this has inspired you to check out Instagram (and maybe change your posting habits on Facebook) so that we can share all of this amazing lace with generations of potential lacemakers!
