I know there are 'pages' on Facebook, but that is just not the same as groups. The problem with pages is that Facebook does not like showing any posts from pages, since they are often from businesses, so those posts compete with the advertising that brings them income, they consider pages to be businesses that get free advertising. If you want people who have liked you page to see what is being posted on the page, you have to 'pay' Facebook, or convince them to come to your page to see what you've posted. Groups don't have quite as much of a problem. Yes, years ago all that happened on Facebook was people 'friending' each other. But lately groups have really taken off. You'll see the difference if you join a group. And you have to be a member of a lot of the groups, cause they often are 'closed' groups, meaning that only members can read the posts, or see the photos, and the photos can't be 'shared' if the group is closed. Groups are really increasing, they are taking over from places like Yahoo groups. And the people that join the group are quite willing to be helpful answering questions, showing how to do something, and give links to where they can find the answers or supplies. Most young people no longer do email, unless it has to do with work. All I have to look at is how my daughter communicates with her friends (and technically, she is not 'young'), it is all either Facebook messenger, or Whatsapp, sometimes she uses Apple's facetime, or she uses Skype (with her mother who refuses to get an Apple product), or she texts with her friends. But email is on it's way out. So if you want to reach young people, you have to create Facebook groups. Or find some other place where young people hang out.
