Hi Annette I have found this discussion very interesting, especially only pricking alternate holes. I can see how this would work, I must try it. However, it still does not give proof that the point lace was made without any pins supporting the ground. Surely no lace worker would go to the trouble, or expense, of having all the ground pricked if she was not going to use the holes. I work the stitches without setting up pins as I go and then set them up later. This does not mean I am making the ground without pins, I use all the pinholes. I have yet to see a point lace pricking without pinholes for the ground. Is there anyone out there who has one? If so I would be very interested to see it.
