FWIW, I was involved in some development using SWI-Prolog + XPCE as far back as 1992 (i.e. 17 years ago) being partner with Jan Wielemaker and other people in the SWI Department... with very good results. Notice also that the core is LGPL, and the library (most of it, and the visible part) is GPL plus exception to allow linking or runtime dependency, and a legal inspection of the exception is advisable.
