Public bug reported:
The kubuntu-desktop package has a Recommends dependency on memtest86+,
which is not really usable on modern systems with UEFI. If that package
is installed, update-grub displays warnings such as this:
Memtest86+ needs a 16-bit boot, that is not available on EFI, exiting
And no memtest86+ entry is added to the grub boot loader.
Consider removing this dependency on memtest86+.
