It can also be changed under the View menu - Show all accounts. There were some changes (since 5.0.1 although I don't recall the exact version) to make things more consistent, and to consolidate two different settings which essentially controlled the same thing. I don't believe that they changed the actual behavior, but I may well be wrong. As far as I know, there is no way to get closed accounts shown in one display but not another.
