Because I want to be able to run my distro's production version, 4.8 git, and KF5 git versions, I have scripts to run the latter 2, which reset several KDE environment variables and run the appropriate kbuildsycoca. So far I haven't discovered any problems caused by this.

However, when I run the new version with "full-path-to-executable full-path-to-kmy-file" it does run, but does not open any file. I can manually open the file, but I don't see any relevant message on the console to indicate any problem. If I run it without any file on the command line, it (correctly) opens the last file it had open. Passing -n also works, it doesn't open any file.

Any suggestions?

Also - it can't find the tips-of-the-day file. I'm assuming it's just another misdirected KDE environment variable, but so far, no idea which one. Again, any suggestions on where to look are welcome.

Thanks.

Jack
