The extra spaces are the result of me playing around with printf for debugging :). The patch needs extra work to make it adjust to your coding style, for showing the tooltip for "total" rows as well, etc. I submitted it just as an example of the final expected result and the simplicity of its implementation. For me, it has made a great difference when using reports.
