It sounds like the behaviour I'm seeing is intended and that maybe I need to
use a different report type, however, I don't understand the report that Alvaro
is describing.

Here's my exact use case and how I've been able to work-around this behaviour
in the split transactions.

Goal: extract shared food expenses out of my credit card account (to be
reimbursed by flatmates)

1. create a report as described in the bug description
2. export the report to CSV
3. open the CSV report in LibreOffice
4. for each split transaction, change the total of the transaction to $0
5. take the total of the expense column

Now, if the report within kmymoney could avoid showing the full transaction
amount for split transactions and instead only show the parts of the
transaction that match the filter, then I could use the total in the kmymoney
report directly and not have to do the export to LibreOffice.
