As far as I remember (I have not tried again at this time) the sorting actually
does work correctly. However, the balance column is always created from top to
bottom, so it only makes sense if the sort is by ascending date first. I
believe this has actually been discussed in the past on the developers mailing
list. I probably should have filed a wishlist, but do not remember doing so.
