To the list and not the bug.

Definitely an interesting thought, but where would we publish it? By the time it would be included in the next version, most of the bugs are fixed. We still need to consolidate and update the information on our various web pages, but I suppose it could be put with the FAQ page. The main problem I see is that anybody who would take the time to hunt down such a page would probably also be willing to check the bug list, unless we can reference it more prominently in several places (in the manual, on the help/about dialog, and on our main web pages.)

I think at the moment, this list and the user list constitute what there is of an errata.

Actually, I've found that it's pretty hard to navigate bug lists and mailing lists for the average user. Problem is too much information and to be able to sift through it you have to know what to look for (often that implies knowing the programmers' slang).
Unfortunately true. Not as bad for the users' list, and it's very acceptable to ask if a strange behavior you just found is really a bug.

What I was thinking of is something like Fedora's errata page (e.g. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F15_bugs). It lists in plain English two dozen or so common bugs for the given version. Users can quickly check it for the bug they're struggling with, before reporting to bug tracker, etc.
We'd have to keep a separate list for each version. I think I'll add this to my "todo" list for the documentation, but I'm not sure how long it will percolate before bubbling to the top.

As for leaving it until the new version - Fedora 15 (current) for some reason isn't even updating to 4.6.0. Even if you release the new fixed version today, they might not push it out until F16, several months later. Worse yet, lots of users don't always update to the latest distro and get left behind
Definitely a problem - but we do have a list of where you can get more recent versions of KMM for various distributions. I suspect there are ways to get a recent version for most distros, even without having to compile yourself. However, your point about how many folks don't upgrade either apps or distros is definitely valid.
