This should work with the avision driver and there is a (commented out as its not needed) line for it in /etc/sane.d/avision.conf http://www.sane-project.org/cgi- bin/driver.pl?manu=&model=5300c&bus=any&v=&p= This machine is an up to date edgy box with sane installed etc. Sane finds the webcam I have (when I plug it in) fine.
