Nice to get a response after 4 years. In the meanwhile I have bought a Samsung notebook. I don't know if this bug is still present in a supported release, because my old notebook is broken since 2012.

After activating standby mode, only the screen gets dark (LCD background light still on) and that's it. Ubuntu is frozen and doesn't react on any key pressed or mouse moved. I have no idea what's going wrong with Maverick.
