Status in HWE Next Project: New Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “linux” source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Bug description: [Impact] This commit is part of a series that fixes HDMI audio playing back too fast on certain haswell machines that we have hit in HWE. By itself this patch does nothing but adding the new function, we are waiting for the proper fix on the audio side to go through the upstream stable trees and shipping them in a DKMS package for OEMs in the interim. For future reference, https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=e4d9e51 is the other commit needed. [Reproduce Steps] 1. Connect to an external monitor via HDMI port on an affected machine 2. Change the audio output from internal speaker to HDMI 3. Play a sound [Results] Expected: Can play the sound without any problem Actual: The audio will played more quickly than internal speaker [tl;dr] We need this part in ASAP if possible so an audio DKMS can be used in the interim while discussions are going on upstream about the stable backport.
