Luca Manunta, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.service.asus.com/#!downloads/c1wax an update to your BIOS is available (312). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags removed: asus touchpad ** Tags added: bios-outdated-312 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - [Asus X751LA] Touchpad not recognised in Ubuntu14.04 + [Asus X751LA] Touchpad not recognised in Ubuntu 14.04 ** Description changed: - I guess this is the same bug found with this new generation of touchpads in other Asus models. - See: Bug #1314198 - I filed a separate report as nobody so far reported this specific notebook model. - The touchpad is currently working as a PS/2 mouse, however this prevents - from using synaptics/syndaemon to suspend touching while typing (and, of - course, double finger scrolling does not work). The only solution is to - toggle the PS/2 mouse off and use an external mouse. + from using synaptics/syndaemon to suspend touching while typing, and + double finger scrolling.
