Adam Francis, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER
where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc2 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: latest-bios-f17 ** Summary changed: - Touchpad not deteted at all on 'Gigabyte M1405' notebook + [Gigabyte M1405] Touchpad not detected ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388335 Title: [Gigabyte M1405] Touchpad not detected Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: My touchpad does not appear in the list when i run "cat /proc/bus/input/devices". This is a brand new installation on this notebook, Ubuntu has never been installed or operated before. An external USB mouse works when it is connected (and is visible with the above terminal command). The touchpad remains dead. The touchpad works in windows 7 (dual boot system). Using the instructions at "https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection", I have attached the ~/dmesg, ~/devices and the /var/log/Xorg.0.log --- ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.5 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: adam 1542 F.... pulseaudio adam 2286 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=923d54bc-1184-43f7-8ceb-ca0ad4e87484 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-11-01 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140722.2) MachineType: GIGABYTE M1405 Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-39-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=d7d0c3b9-5be2-43f4-bca3-70e4cf125a44 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-39.66-generic 3.13.11.8 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.13.0-39-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.13.0-39-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.127.7 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no Tags: trusty Uname: Linux 3.13.0-39-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo _MarkForUpload: True dmi.bios.date: 05/18/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: GIGABYTE dmi.bios.version: GSBF17 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: M1405 dmi.board.vendor: GIGABYTE dmi.board.version: Base Board Version dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Chassis Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 1 dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacturer dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnGIGABYTE:bvrGSBF17:bd05/18/2011:svnGIGABYTE:pnM1405:pvrGSBF17:rvnGIGABYTE:rnM1405:rvrBaseBoardVersion:cvnChassisManufacturer:ct1:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: M1405 dmi.product.version: GSBF17 dmi.sys.vendor: GIGABYTE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1388335/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
