Title: Removing linux-image-extra-X-generic deletes initramfs Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “linux” source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Status in “linux” source package in Utopic: Fix Released Bug description: Situation: linux-image-X-generic and linux-image-extra-X-generic are both installed When you remove linux-image-extra-X-generic (e.g. switching from -generic to -virtual) /boot/initrd.img-X-generic is deleted in linux-image-extra-X-generic's postrm script. This results into broken boot.
