We're able to work around the issue by blacklisting it as: $ cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-ppc64el.conf blacklist shpchp I've discussed this with Anton, and we came up with the above work around. I'll attach a log of the failed boot. Note, that the shpchp.blacklist=yes command line parameters seem not to do anything (ie, just ignore them).
