For example: # perf stat -e cycles ls Error: cycles event is not supported. Fatal: Not all events could be opened The following relevant messages are found in dmesg: [ 0.494517] Performance Events: PEBS fmt1+, Westmere events, Broken BIOS detected, using software events only.
