This in turn causes hyper-v's script hv_set_ifconfig.sh to fail as follows: root@ubuntu:~# ./hv_set_ifconfig.sh /var/lib/hyperv/ifcfg-eth0 ifdown: interface eth0 not configured RTNETLINK answers: File exists Failed to bring up eth0.
