The Quantal kernel is now EOL. It would be best to see is this issue
still happens with the latest release.

Bug description:
Crash at Boot with this kernel. I am unsure whats causing it as I
can't find anything in the log.... I reverted to linux-
headers-3.5.0-46-generic and it solves my problem...
