Luca Lesinigo, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect the kernel in order to identify the fix commit. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ?

A warm reboot of the system is enough to replace the card in working mode, again for just a minute or two. The same system has been used for a long time with Precise without problems, and also had other various non-LTS releases tested without problems. I'm sorry I cannot tell for sure which ones were tried in between Precise and Trusty. As far as I know, this is the same issue as Ubuntu bug #1318837 and Linux bug https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61621 I tested some kernels on my system with these results: - 3.13.0-30-generic (Trusty's current stock kernel) is affected - 3.13.11-03131104 is affected (and so are a few other 3.13.x that I tested) - 3.14.1-031401 works (and so do all 3.14.x at least up to 3.14.9-031409) - 3.15.4-031504 works - 3.16.0-031600rc2 and rc4 both work ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: linux-image-3.13.0-30-generic 3.13.0-30.55 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-30.55-generic 3.13.11.2 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-30-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.2 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: luca 2131 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Tue Jul 15 10:02:39 2014 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=cbd1e136-ffc4-48b9-b2aa-c15264b9b132 MachineType: Freeline Freeline Series ProcFB: 0 radeondrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-30-generic root=UUID=b1d55c2e-1ca3-4d21-bb1d-0fcaa9f91037 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.13.0-30-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.13.0-30-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.127.4 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 10/29/2004 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies, LTD dmi.bios.version: 6.00 PG dmi.board.name: Freeline Series dmi.board.vendor: Freeline dmi.board.version: Ver1.0 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologies,LTD:bvr6.00PG:bd10/29/2004:svnFreeline:pnFreelineSeries:pvrVer1.0:rvnFreeline:rnFreelineSeries:rvrVer1.0:cvn:ct3:cvr: dmi.product.name: Freeline Series dmi.product.version: Ver1.0 dmi.sys.vendor: Freeline To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1342021/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
