Christopher Penalver, the latest stable update to kernel 3.13-....30 fixed this issue. I suppose you can mark this as resolved. Thank you for the help.

The touchpad never worked correctly. It is only able to register button clicks and move the mouse pointer. Scroll, taps, multitouch, etc are not available and do not show as available option. "Synclient -l" returns "Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?" Actually, anywhere I looked, the touchpad is just listed as a PS/2 Generic Mouse. I also used dkms to install the extra ALPS v7 kernel module from he1per/psmouse-dkms-alpsv7 on GitHub. Still, the kernel was not able to detect the touchpad and enable any of its functions. I have included the required debug logs in the attached debug_logs.tar.gz file. This bug has been confirmed on AskUbuntu by several users and several unanswered support requests.
