I have this issue also: Wifi drops randomly but I think it happens only when I'm plugged off from the charging cable? When I plug it back in the wifi works again.
I did debug the problem with ping and it seems that when I'm on battery I do not receive some packets or I receive some with delay but as soon as I plug the charging cable back I receive those missed packets with huge delay. When I plug off my charging cable my syslog shows: Jun 18 22:34:07 xps kernel: [ 9584.125828] ahci 0000:00:1f.2: port does not support device sleep And when I plug it in again I get: Jun 18 22:36:39 xps kernel: [ 9735.942015] ahci 0000:00:1f.2: port does not support device sleep Jun 18 22:36:39 xps anacron[9292]: Anacron 2.3 started on 2014-06-18 Jun 18 22:36:39 xps anacron[9292]: Normal exit (0 jobs run) Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707044] ata3.00: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x3 SErr 0x50000 action 0xe frozen Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707047] ata3.00: irq_stat 0x00400000, PHY RDY changed Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707049] ata3: SError: { PHYRdyChg CommWake } Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707051] ata3.00: failed command: WRITE FPDMA QUEUED Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707054] ata3.00: cmd 61/08:00:98:09:dc/00:00:17:00:00/40 tag 0 ncq 4096 out Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707054] res 40/00:0c:38:aa:1f/00:00:18:00:00/40 Emask 0x10 (ATA bus error) Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707056] ata3.00: status: { DRDY } Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707057] ata3.00: failed command: WRITE FPDMA QUEUED Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707059] ata3.00: cmd 61/08:08:38:aa:1f/00:00:18:00:00/40 tag 1 ncq 4096 out Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707059] res 40/00:0c:38:aa:1f/00:00:18:00:00/40 Emask 0x10 (ATA bus error) Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707060] ata3.00: status: { DRDY } Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9737.707063] ata3: hard resetting link Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9738.428043] ata3: SATA link up 6.0 Gbps (SStatus 133 SControl 300) Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9738.430887] ata3.00: configured for UDMA/133 Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9738.444026] ahci 0000:00:1f.2: port does not support device sleep Jun 18 22:36:41 xps kernel: [ 9738.444039] ata3: EH complete And this happens only at my home. When I'm at the office, wifi works just fine. With my previous laptop with Ubuntu installed I hadn't any problems with wifi and my home router It is Netwjork 150Mbps -router with WPA2 enabled and it's pretty old one but no one else in my home is experiencing these kind of problems and there are 4 other people using the same wlan. I already have A04 BIOS and sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date returns A04 03/19/2014 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330698 Title: [Dell XPS 9333] WiFi dropping on Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Wifi drops on Intel Corporation Wireless 7260, on a Dell XPS 9333. It happens on a D-Link DIR-625 but not on a Netgear WNDR4500 wireless router. The main symptom is, even while next to the router, the connection stops responding every other minute, for minutes at a time. It seems if I leave my computer running the command "ping 8.8.8.8" it will ping for roughly a minute, fine, and then stop, then resume, and so on.
