Christopher -- I just looked at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=show&redirect=KernelMainlineBuildswhere the link you posted ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds) redirects, and I see one stumbling block. I'm using the proprietary nvidia drivers because the default noveau driver only gives me 1024x768 on my laptop, whereas the display is actually 1600x900. Since I can't get useful work done at 1024x768, I will either have to figure out how to get an nvidia driver working with 3.15-rc5, or I will need to figure out how to get the noveau driver to give me 1600x900.
I'll see if I can figure out a solution and keep you posted. Thanks for the response. Regards -- Bhaskar On Mon, May 12, 2014 at 8:06 PM, Christopher M. Then, instead of going to sleep, it remains powered up. In this state, nothing works to get back control, not Ctrl-Alt-Del, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-F2 (or other function key), not ^C. The only way I have found to get control is to hold the power button down, which is a power-down and then power-up. Message on console is: [40066.396632] PM: Syncing filesystems ... done [40066.767832] PM: Preparing system for mem sleep [40066.768398] i2400m_usb 2-1.5:1.0: firmware i6050-fw-usb-1.5.sbcf: Cached [40066.768473] Freezing user space processes ...
