@ Sebastien Bacher (seb128) Yes it seems that it is using too much CPU. However, running "top" shows that Totem is only using about 25% to 30% CPU, so top does not detect too much CPU usage. Also the CPU usage doesn't change much whether totem runs full screen or in a window.
CPU is running in Conservative mode at 800MHz (36% of full speed). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311402 Title: Totem playin DVD fullscreen causes CPU to overheat Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I play a DVD in full screen mode on my large monitor (2560 x 1440 pixels). The CPU temperature quickly rises from about 50 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees, causing the fan to run at full speed (which is noisy and irritating). Running "top" shows that Totem is only using about 25% to 30% CPU. CPU is running in Conservative mode at 800MHz (36% of full speed). This behaviour does not occur in full screen mode on my smaller monitor (1280 x 1024). Neither does it occur when I use another media player (VLC) to play the DVD full screen. I have removed totem from my system as VLC does not exhibit this bug.
